Thorp Dog Auction Scrapbook: Woo

Previous -- Next

Woo the gorgeous shar pei pup has entropic eyelids and cannot open his eyes without extreme pain.

This gorgeous boy is Woo, a six month old Shar Pei pup. No, Woo isn't being shy -- he has "bi-lateral entropian eyelids" and cannot open his eyes without severe pain.

This condition occurs when the eyelids turn in toward the eye and the lashes rub against the cornea. You know how much it hurts to have an eyelash fall into your eye -- just imagine what it must be like to have your eyelashes scraping your corneas all the time!

The good news is, it's reparable with surgery. The bad news is -- Woo was born with this condition, and it is hereditary.

For more information on this condition, please see the Animal Eye Care website.
