RESCUING THE RIDGLAN BEAGLES

Updated 7/9/26

PLEASE NOTE:    As of July 1, 2026, Ridglan Farms is out of the beagle breeding business. In a month or so, they will be surrendering the dogs they have been using in the research side of the business and shutting down that enterprise, also. Things have been happening too fast to keep up with here, but we can tell you that WPMP placed over 400 of the dogs with our partner rescues and shelters right here in Wisconsin. You can see the lists in our posts on FB:

These shelters and rescues were overwhelmed at the response they received from potential adopters. Literally thousands of adoption applications were received and vetted, and most of the dogs are now in their Forever Homes.

Big Dog Ranch Rescue claimed the bulk of the initial two releases, and later negotiated on their own for the rest of the dogs. Please contact them directly for information on which shelters and rescues they have placed dogs in, whether any are still available, and how to be considered to adopt them: Big Dog Ranch Rescue website

Beagle face behind wire     The Wisconsin Puppy Mill Project (WPMP) was proud to be a part of the negotiated release of 1,635 beagles from the Ridglan Farms breeding facility. The first release began on May 1, 2026, and the second, on June 3. .

WPMP coordinated with Wisconsin Federated Humane Societies, Dane County Humane Society, and our experienced WI rescue/shelter partners to organize logistics for removal, rehabilitation, and placement of over 400 of these dogs.

We are grateful to all the people and organizations who have striven for days and years, in some cases for decades, to get to this moment. We are especially grateful to partner with Beagle Freedom Project and all others who worked together to secure this outcome.

You can read the details in any number of places on the internet -- just do a web search on Ridglan Beagles! After the release of the dogs to Big Dog Ranch Rescue from the research side of the business -- sometime within the next couple of months -- we'll try to put together a quick timeline and summary for you.

(Photo for attention. We'll post some pics of the actual Ridglan Beagles when we have them!)
